Lots of the roles and expectations were defined and clear for a family and it's members. This makes it easier to learn.  --Not that the progression of our society since then has been a bad thing, but it has become more complex, which makes it difficult for all of us, not  just people with social disorders, to determine what our place is and what "rules" to follow....
